My local health food store got in a new brand of yogurt!

It is called Nu Lait and it is a dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free product. It cost $2.29 for a container. It came in a variety of flavors with different bases. I bought one coconut and one almond. The coconut one is peach, cinnamon, cardamom, and clove, and the almond one is crandberry, pistachio, and orange zest.

Coconut Peach Honey Cardamom Clove

Almond Cranberry Pistachio

These are pretty high in calories. The coconut one is 210 calories, 90 from fat, and the almond one is a whopping 280 calories, 130 from fat. I am secretly anticipating this with much drool!

There’s 18 grams of sugar in the coconut one and 19 in the almond. They are sweetened with honey, fruit puree, cane juice, and sugar, and no corn syrup, though they do have corn starch in them

Coconut Peach Honey Cardamom Clove Opened

Opened up, the coconut one looks very gelatinous. I licked the yogurt off the cover and plain, it is very coconutty, a bit tart, and a little sweet. It smells absolutely divine and clovey. It comes with the fruit in a separate compartment, so I stirred it in next. It actually seemed like it might be too much fruit for the amount of yogurt. I put in about 2/3 of it and it seemed thoroughly mixed.

Oh my god. All I can say is that this tastes like the best peach cobbler ever. It is full of cinnamon but not too sweet– mostly cinnamonny with a little bit of peach. The fruit on its own tastes delicious too. The texture is a bit too grainy to be described at pudding– but it is very reminiscent of pie filling. I could eat this forever. Seriously.

Almond Cranberry Pistachio Opened

The almond one is very, very dark and looks a lot like pudding. Tasting it plain, it is incredibly nutty– it tastes something like hot cereal. Which I will not complain about, since when I am not eating yogurt, I am eating hot cereal.

The jam that comes with this one is very tart and very rich– the peaches were more like a compote but the cranberries are like a puree. When I poured them into the yogurt, I see why– they need a strong flavor to balance the nut flavor! It doesn’t taste nearly as tart when mixed with the almonds– it tastes lightly sweet.

I think these are the most amazing vegan yogurts I have ever had. Seriously. I think you all owe yourselves the treat of going out and buying at least one. They are pricey for yogurt, but they are also much richer and much more dense than any other yogurt you will have short of a whole milk greek yogurt like Fage. I think I just overdid it eating two of these– one is plenty for a light lunch or a midday snack.

*Note– the coconut yogurt is not vegan as it has honey in it. The almond one is vegan-friendly!

A couple of days ago, I tried Wallaby Organic Vanilla Yogurt.

Wallaby Organic Vanilla

I should say up front that Wallaby Organic is one of my favorite brands, although I usually buy their more exotic flavors, like Dulce de Leche and Mango. It is purported to be “Australian-style” yogurt, and I’m not sure what that means, as it is made in California. It costs $1.19.

Wallaby has 140 calories and 25 calories from fat per serving, which seems about par for the course. It has 20g of sugar, which is not super high but not super low either. It has no high fructose corn syrup.

Wallaby Organic Vanilla Opened

Opening it, it looks a bit soupy, but not as soupy as the vegan yogurts. It surprisingly has a cream top, which is very rare among low fat yogurts.

The texture is very puddingy, but unlike most of the puddingy yogurts, it doesn’t have any artificially flavor, and it’s not too sweet. It is pleasantly sour and you can taste the dairy in it. You can taste the vanilla, but it is not very strongly vanilla-flavored.

I like their vanilla just as much as their other flavors! No big surprises, but not a let-down, either.

I am also trying Emmi Swiss Premium. My market didn’t have this in vanilla, so I got strawberry. It cost $1.49 for a container.

Emmi Swiss Premium Strawberry

It has 170 calories and 25 calories from fat. It also has TWENTY-SEVEN grams of sugar, which is pretty ridiculously high. That might be the highest I’ve tried…I’m not sure! Then again, it also has strawberries in it, which might have something to do with this.

Emmi Swiss Premium Strawberry Opened

Inside, it almost looks like a strawberry milkshake– very creamy and gloppy, and like the Wallaby, it has a cream top! The cream top tastes a little funky, though, like cheese. Not that I don’t love cheese, but it’s not what I expect from my strawberry yogurt.

The rest of the yogurt doesn’t taste so funky, though! It is mostly very, very sweet– too sweet for me, really– just the combination of sugar AND fruit is a bit much. There were two large chunks of strawberry in the entire container, and then a lot of little strawberry flecks throughout. This comes stirred already– not fruit on the bottom style.

I thought this was delicious but a little on the sweet side for me! It actually made my teeth hurt to eat it! It might be better mixed with granola or something else.

This one is called WildWood Organics, and I didn’t even realize it was a soy yogurt when I bought it…but it is! It cost $1.19, which is pretty good for a vegan yogurt. It’s plain ol’ vanilla soy yogurt.

WildWood Organic Vanilla Soyogurt

It’s 160 calories with 25 calories from fat, which it claims to be low fat– and isn’t exactly low fat, but is one of the better numbers for the vegan yogurts. But it’s got 21 grams of sugar, which is getting a little high.

WildWood Organic Vanilla Soyogurt Opened

Opening it up, it’s very brown and soupy looking– it looks a lot like the Ricera from yesterday. BUT! The texture is not too bad– a little more liquidy than most, but it doesn’t feel sticky or gloppy, and the flavor is really nice. It is a tad sweeter than I like my yogurt, but you can definitely taste the soy in it and it has that lovely nutty flavor that soy products have. I really liked this one and I think I would rank this one up with the WholeSoy. It’s a touch sweeter than I like yogurt but it is overall very pleasant in flavor and I really enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a vegan yogurt, definitely check this one out! It is also Kosher and gluten-free! Win!

I got two more vegan yogurts today!

The first is Silk Live! Soy Yogurt, made by the same people who make Silk soy milks. It’s a vanilla yogurt and costs $1.09, which is pretty cheap for yogurt, let alone vegan yogurt!

Silk Live! Vanilla

Silk has 150 calories, so its calorie value is about the same as many dairy yogurts. And the fat content is 25 calories of that, which is fairly low, but not super low. It has eighteen grams of sugar, which is moderate. So, if you are looking at vegan yogurts as a weight loss option, this one probably doesn’t cut it. However, it has no corn syrup and is all natural, so that is a plus!

Silk Live! Vanilla Opened

Opening it up, it has a browner color than most vanilla yogurts, and a very globby consistency– just like pudding! I sweat, this looks like opening a container of vanilla pudding.

The texture is almost exactly like pudding, which is wonderful, but I hate to say it– in spite of it being all-natural flavors, this is one of the most “fake” tasting yogurts I have tried. It tastes as fake as the Yoplait, at least, and actually has a weird sort of applesaucey flavor. You can’t really taste any of the naturally nutty flavor of the soy. I think the WholeSoy still wins for best of the soy yogurts. I couldn’t even eat more that a few bites of this one.

The other is Ricera, a rice(!) yogurt. It’s a bit more expensive, at $1.79 and is also vanilla flavor.

Ricera Vanilla

It has 180 calories, which is pretty high, but only 10 of those are from fat. The sugar content is 20g, which is verring up into that high-ish range. There is no high fructose corn syrup in it!

Ricera Vanilla Opened

Upon opening, the yogurt looks soupy. Like, super liquidy and gloppy, an has that same slightly-brownish color as the soy yogurt. It has a more pleasant flavor than the Silk yogurt for sure, but it is almost entirely sweet with no sourness at all, although you can definitely taste the rice flavor in it. It does not taste very much like vanilla. It also has a texture where you can tell that it’s made with rice– there are little mushy bits in it and it is a bit gluey– it sticks to the roof of my mouth.

I don’t think it’s unpleasant, but it was also a little too sweet for me by itself– I think it might be better with cereal or in cooking if you need to replace yogurt in a recipe with a dairy-free ingredient. I think the WholeSoy is still the definite winner for vegan yogurts!

Okay! So, today I have The Greek Gods Greek (Style) Yogurt. It cost $1.69 at my local grocery store.

The Greek Gods Vanilla Orange Cinnamon Yogurt

The “Style” is in tiny letters not in the logo. Haha! Anyway, these yogurts are THEMED. Every yogurt has a different god on it. Vanilla, which is what we are trying, is not just vanilla, but vanilla cinnamon orange and apparently belongs to Aphrodite! It is the yogurt of LOVE!

The yogurt of love has a very short ingredient list– with no corn syrup– 170 calories (which is not bad) and 50 from fat which is a little high. The sugars are a little high, too, at 23 grams.

The Greek Gods Vanilla Orange Cinnamon Yogurt Opened

Opening the yogurt container, this yogurt has a very thick, solid consistency that looks a lot like Fage or some of the other Greek-style yogurts.

The flavor is almost bitingly sour, but you can definitely taste the orange and cinnamon in spite of that. It taste a bit like canoli filling, although it has a much more lactosey sourness to it. The consistency is very very smooth and creamy– this is solid and won’t fall off your spoon.

If you like dairy-sour yogurts, this is definitely one to try! I think it might be a little too sour for me, especially when it also has a lot of sugar, but it wasn’t unpleasant and the texture and unique flavor is worth a go.

The other one I have today is Redwood Hill Farm Vanilla Goat Milk Yogurt.

Redwood Hill Farm Vanilla

This was one of the more expensive yogurts, at $2.49. It has 140 calories and 45 calories from fat– so, not bad on calories but the fat content is a tad high. It has 14 grams of sugar, though, which is fairly good. It is sweetened with maple syrup.

Redwood Hill Farm Vanilla Opened

Opening it, it is almost the exact opposite of Greek Gods– in fact, it is rather soupy! The flavor is not sweet at all– just mildly sweet, and very strongly of maple, not vanilla. On the other hand, it has very little sourness to it. I really like the flavor of this yogurt. I generally don’t like the soupier yogurts, but this one has an excellent flavor that won me over. The maple is really strong but almost not sweet, which is very unique.

The Redwood Hill is definitely my favorite of these two, but I think it’s a little pricey for me to buy it too often.

And you thought they were done for good!

A few weeks of recovery later, and apparently no new thrush, and I’m going to try to finish out my yogurt reviews. Sadly, a few of the yogurts I had already bought seem to have gone bad in the meantime, so I feel a bit bad for wasting food, but I will replace those ones and try again! Maybe just…you know, not every day.

I have two more major store brands today.

The first is Stonyfield Farm, which cost $1.19 regular price. It’s an organic yogurt.

Stonyfield Farm French Vanilla

This one is French Vanilla and it has a very short list of ingredients, including pectin. It has 170 calories and 50 of those are from fat– not too bad on the calories, a little higher than normal…but the fat is pretty high. There are 22 grams of sugar– higher than a lot, but not the highest by any means.

Stonyfield Farm French Vanilla Opened

I opened it up and it looked prety solid, a lot like some of the Greek yogurts. Spooning into it, I discovered that it also had a very thick, rich cream top, a lot like the Brown cow, but a little bit lighter in texture.

The yogurt is sweet, but it kind of tasted more like honey sweet than sugar sweet, even though the ingredients say it has sugar, not honey. It did have a little bit of an off-flavor to it, though, kind of a ricotta cheese flavor that I wasn’t fond of. The texture is a bit goopy…it hangs in strings from the spoon and almost looks like it has raw egg in it, if you know what I mean.

It is too bad because I really liked the texture of the cream top, but the flavor overall is a little suspect.

Next up is Columbo “Classic” vanilla. My mom bought me this one so I’m afraid I can’t say what the price is.

Columbo Classic Vanilla

The Columbo yogurt is fat free and 130 calories. It has 21 grams of sugar. It does have high fructose corn syrup and modified corn starch in it, but other than that, the ingredient list is pretty short.

Columbo Classic Vanilla Opened

Opening it up, it looks like one of the more flan-like yogurts, with a little water on the top, but the texture is much softer. The Columbo yogurt is a bit sweet, but there is almost no sourness to it at all. It tastes a bit more like sugar than vanilla and the texture is very light– this actually tastes like a classier version of the Shop Rite store brand yogurt.

I like the Columbo, but I like it in the sense that if I were in a grocery store that only had typical store brands, I might choose this or Dannon, but I don’t think it would be in my top choices of yogurts ever.

So, if you’ve noticed, The Yogurt Diaries are on a short term hiatus.

This was an unplanned hiatus.

Why?

Because Sunday morning I felt a little ill. The typical sore throat, tired type thing. Monday, same dealio. I went to work and all, I was just…bleh.

Tuesday…still sick. So I go to the Resident Nurse in our office building and have her check me out. She’s chatting away and then asks me to stick out my tongue.

I do.

“You’re very dehydrated,” she said.

“I can’t be,” I said. “I just drank a twenty-ounce ginger ale.”

“Your tongue is white,” she said. “That’s a sign of dehydration. How much have you had to drink?”

“Well, the ginger ale this morning,” I said (this was at ten AM), “and I went through a pitcher and a half of water last night.”

“Stick out your tongue again,” she said.

I did.

“The only thing I can figure,” she said. “Is that you have thrush.”

“What?” I asked. “I mean, I’ve heard the term but I have no idea what that is.”

“It’s a fungal infection you get in your mouth. Usually only babies get it.”

“How weird! How can you tell if someone has it?” I asked.

“Because their tongue is white. Here, do you want to see?” She offered me a handmirror.

Hell yes, my tongue was white. “Oh my god!” I said. “It is white. How do people get thrush?” I asked.

“Usually only babies get it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an adult with it.” It took her a few tries to come out with the next part, but when she did, she finally asked, “Have you been with anyone…in that…you have had oral sex?”

“Definitely not,” I told her. “Unless I wasn’t informed of it.”

So, yeah. I have a disease that people get from breastfeeding and cunnilingus! Go me.

Yogurt is actually supposed to cure thrush, but since it is the only thing I had eaten consistently for the past week (and some days I will not lie, I had four containers in a single day), I think it is probably a good idea to wait to bring it back in full force.

In the meantime, I want to ask you all a question. I am well more than halfway done with my yogurts, so I would like to decide what else I should do. I would like to move on to a different food, but it has to have these qualifications:

–It must be something that I can reasonably eat once a day without it affecting my health (like, you know, giving me thrush).
–It must be something that I can afford to eat every day for a meal (top cost $3-4 although I would be willing to do something that had a couple outliers for comparison).
–It must be something that comes in several brand names that people can shop for.
–I would prefer that it be vegetarian, but I would be okay with doing something like, say, chicken noodle soup. I just try to avoid eating too much meat. It doesn’t have to be vegan, though, and things like soup broth or gelatin are things I’m more willing to compromise on than say, hot dogs.

So, if you have ideas or recommendations for things I can do next, let me know!

At work on Friday, I went for two honey-flavored “Greek” style yogurts. And, doing this at work, I have a guest taster today, my coworker, Karen!

The first is a popular grocery store brand that, if you are in the US, you can probably find in a major chain near you. This one is Fage Total, which Jamie asked me to include.

Fage Total with Honey

The Fage container is a little smaller than most, at 5.3 oz, and it costs $1.79. However, it comes with a separate little side-compartment full of honey to mix in. The yogurt is much, much more caloric than any other one I’ve written about, at 250 calories (most have been between 100-170 calories for six ounces). And 110 of those calories are from fat. That’s twice as much as Brown Cow, which was the fattiest one I’d tried to date. On the other hand, there are only four ingredients in the whole damn thing: Milk, cream, cultures, and honey. There are 28 g of sugar but this is all from honey, so you can add less of the honey to the yogurt if you want to cut down the sugar.

When you open this, it looks like opening a container of sour cream or goat cheese. It looks very solid with no water to speak of.

Fage Total with Honey Opened

I thought this one was very rich and creamy– The whole thing is kind of like eating cream top. It is kind of ridiculously rich and thick, but not cheesy like the Siggi’s was. The flavor is very mild and has almost none of the usual dairy acidity, and the honey is wonderful.

Karen said that it’s not overly sweet, and you can really taste the flavor of the honey it it. She said the texture is fine, but it tasted very fatty to her– she felt like she was just eating the top of a Brown Cow yogurt (funny, that’s what I said, too!).

The second we tried is Voskos Honey Vanilla flavor. This one was $1.69 for a 5.3 oz container (also not a full 6 oz)

Voskos Greek Yogurt Honey Vanilla

Voskos is much more in line with the other yogurts I’ve tried, with 130 calories and 17 g of sugar. It’s also a non-fat yogurt, which is a bit of a relief after the Fage.

Voskos Greek Yogurt Honey Vanilla Opened

When you open it, it looks pretty gloppy, kind of like the Rachel’s. It also has brown specks in it, which, reading the back of the container, appear to be actual pieces of vanilla bean. This is the first yogurt I’ve tried that has the vanilla bean specks in it.

I thought this one was still very creamy. Less creamy than the Fage, of course, but impressively creamy for a non-fat yogurt. It didn’t really taste of honey, though, the flavor was almost herbal. Might be a honey made with different flowers. Has more cane juice than honey, which I think must explain why I didn’t think the honey flavor was very strong.

Karen said this one has and interesting texture, but she could tell it was low fat. She said it seemed very consistent in flavor and texture, and she liked the flavor. She said she liked the Fage a little better but she thought she would not buy it because of the high fat content. However, luckily, Fage does make two lower-fat versions of their yogurt.

I enjoyed these both. The Fage was incredibly decadent while I didn’t feel that way about the Voskos, but the Voskos had a pleasant and unique flavor.

Then, today, I got two more Greek-style yogurts, this time just plain vanilla. My mom tasted them with me!

The first is Oikos from Stonyfield Farm, which is a major yogurt brand. I’ve got a container of their regular yogurt in the fridge that I haven’t tried yet. This is a more “premium” style offering that I understand is more recent to their line of yogurts. It was $1.99 which is sort of tipping the price point that I would find reasonable.

Oikos Vanilla

Oikos has 110 calories and no fat. It is low on the sugar with 11 g sugar and entirely organic. It’s another one with very few ingredients:just milk, sugar, and vanilla

Oikos Vanilla Opened

Opening it, it looks a bit lumpy on top but there isn’t a lot of liquid. But when you spoon into it, it is very smooth and creamy without being rich like the Fage yogurt. It is a little sweet but I thought it was a bit too sour. My mother liked the sour aftertaste because she said it tasted like natural dairy.

We also tried Chobani, which comes in a container than looks a lot like Fage, but is a full 6 oz of yogurt. It was much cheaper than the Oikos yogurt, at $1.39.

Chobani Vanilla

Choboni is also just milk, sugar, and vanilla, and it is 120 calories a serving with 12 grams of sugar. Like Oikos, it is fat-free.

Chobani Vanilla Opened

The Chobani looks really smooth and creamy when you open it– and has very little water. I really liked the texture of the Chobani, and I think it is one of my favorites texture-wise so far. It is incredibly creamy and rich for a fat-free yogurt. It is also not very sweet at all–it has a very strong vanilla flavor, more vanilla than sugar, which I really liked. It had a little bit of a sour aftertaste which I didn’t mind, but my mom did. She said the taste was “medicinal” but she liked the teture because it tasted more fatty than a fat-free yogurt, and she thought it was creamy without being “puddingy.”

Out of all of these, I would totally eat any of them again! This was like a win weekend for yogurt. I think the Oikos was my least favorite, and since it had the highest price point, I would probably give it a miss, but my mom liked the Oikos better than Chobani, so I think it is a personal preference thing. The Fage Total is like the most decadent yogurt ever and probably not something you want to eat all the time, but man, it is delicious.

Today, I am reviewing two of my favorite brands, and on that note, I also have to say I am cheating a little because neither of them are in vanilla. But I would like to state that I have eaten neither of them since starting this review series.

The first one is Rachel’s, in Plum Lavender Honey. Its regular price is $1.19 but I got it on sale for $.89.

Rachel's Plum Lavender Honey

It’s sweetened with evaporated cane juice and honey, and the sugar comes in at 23 grams– a little high, but not as high as the big-name brands. It’s 150 calories and 25 of those are from fat.

Opening it up, the top is covered in cream, and the yogurt inside is pretty, well, gloppy, for lack of a better word. It doesn’t really have a shape to it.

Rachel's Plum Lavender Honey Opened

This is the first yogurt where I want to believe the rumor about good yogurt having cream float to the top, because there is what appears to be a very thick layer of fatty cream on the top. It is much thicker than the yogurt below it, which, biting into it, it really is pretty, well, gloppy. Although it is very smooth and lump-free.

Texture aside, the favor is delicious. The fruit is mixed in and there are not any pieces of fruit in it. It tastes mostly of plums and a little of honey– I have a hard time tasting the lavender in it, but that’s okay, because plum yogurt is awesome. It is a bit sweeter than the Cascade Fresh, but it’s sweet in a fruit-juicy sort of way, not a sugar rush sort of way.

So while I would like for Rachel’s to be a bit more creamy, the flavor is pretty darn amazing. I should have gotten the Vanilla Chai flavor they make to do this test, but oh well. I would especially recommend this one for mixing with fruit, nuts, or cereal– while it’s not my favorite texture, the texture is perfect for Grape Nuts! Then again, I’m not going to stop eating it anytime soon, especially since the price is not bad and it is better than a lot of the others at that price point!

Rachel’s website is here.

The other yogurt for today is Brown Cow. I’m eating a Brown Cow Maple Cream Top. The price is $1.09 regular price– cheaper than Dannon! I don’t recall if it was on sale, though.

I knew this was going to happen eventually, but I totally flaked about taking a picture of this one, it looks like. I thought I did, but I just went to upload it and there isn’t one. So, you will have to make do with a promotional image, which is actually kinda better than my photos :-P

Brown Cow Maple Cream Top

This is not a diet yogurt. It has 170 calories, 60 of those from fat, which is pretty much through the roof, although I think Brown Cow makes a low fat variety as well. What do you expect from something called “Cream Top?” It has 21 grams of sugar– a little high, but certainly nowhere near the highest. I was pleased to see that the majority of sugar actually comes from the

Opening it up, well…the top of it looks like a lunar landing. I mean to say, cratered and bumpy. It is certainly nothing to write home about.

Brown Cow Maple Cream Top Opened

But that cratered, lumpy surface? Is all cream. It tastes like eating homemade butter with a spoon. It is lumpy and rich, and if you don’t like eating fatty things, you will probably want to spoon this off! If you like these kinds of things, you will be in freaking heaven. But now we know why the fat content is so high. Seriously, you could spread this stuff on toast.

Once you get past the aptly named cream top, the yogurt below appears lumpy, but it is less lumpy in your mouth. It’s not as smooth as Rachel’s, but the consistency is a little thicker. It’s not quite as thick as I like ideally, though.

The flavor is good– it’s a bit sour, but very strongly maple and the maple flavor sits on your tongue longer than the dairy-sour flavor does. It does not taste particularly sweet– a little sweet, but not as sweet as most of the other flavors I’ve tried.

Brown Cow could maybe be a little less sour and a little more smooth but the flavor is really good and the cream top is an added surprise bonus if you like that kind of thing. If you don’t, you might be better off with their low fat line. Or with a different yogurt. Me, I dig this one. My favorite flavor of theirs is the chocolate, though.

First yogurt of the day is Axelrod Fat Free Vanilla. This was $.89 regular price in the regular grocery store.

Axelrod Fat Free Vanilla

It’s fat free, so no fat, but it has 12 grams of sugar, so it weighs in at about the same as some of the smaller dairies’ sugar content. When I opened it, a lot of the yogurt was stuck to the top foil, and it looked creamy.

Axelrod Fat Free Vanilla

Well. Then I tasted it. And this was possibly the sweetest of all the yogurts I’ve tasted so far– wholly unappetizingly sweet. It tasted a bit like eating artificially-flavored cake frosting out of the container. So I checked the ingredients and saw this is sweetened with fructose instead of sugar or corn syrup…

…and then I kept reading and saw that it was ALSO sweetened with aspartame.

This really pisses me off. Not only that you would make something that has BOTH naturally-occurring sugars and aspartame in it (why?!) but also that you wouldn’t advertise that <strike>on the front of the container</strike> Err, actually, it does say it on the front of the container, in tiny letters, over to one side. I don’t eat things with aspartame in it, so Axelrod is getting a great big NO from me and I’m not finishing the container. Seriously, if you need sugar free food, I can’t even recommend it since it HAS sugar in it, too!

So I am eating another. This one is Cascade Fresh Fat Free Yogurt, and I am happy to say we are back to yogurts without super long ingredient lists. It was $.65 on sale, the cheapest yogurt I have tried so far, and $.89 regular price.

This is sweetened with fruit juice concentrate and has 12 grams of sugar and 110 calories, which is the lowest caloric count I’ve gotten on one of these babies.

Cascade Fresh Vanilla

Opening it, there is nothing on the top foil, and very little water in the cup. It is smoother than the flan-type yogurts but not really puddingy: it sort of has the consistency of thick sour cream.

Cascade Fresh Vanilla Opened

Disclosure: I was expecting to give this a negative review because I have had some other Cascade flavors and did not like them, but the vanilla is excellent. It is creamy without being too thick and heavy, and sour, but only a little, so it tastes the way yogurt ought to. It is also mercifully less sweet than the other yogurts I’ve tried. There is not much vanilla to it, but it tastes a little sweet and a lot like milk, so it mostly just tastes like good dairy.

So far, I would rank this up there with the True Yogurt as one of the best I’ve tried, and at the cheapest price point so far, I think Cascade gets a gold star from me! I will give some of their other flavors another chance! Cascade Fresh’s website is here.
