Barbara gave him a look. "I had to tell you. I would have guilty otherwise." She offered, looking sheepish. "At least now you know."

"And I appreciate that," Marcello replied. "Was there anything else?" he asked. "Things you overheard, things you saw? Things O' Nualan suggested?"

"Matt," She replied, gently, "said he remembered Duncan as lazy and fucking everything that moved, and the Baroness as a dumb bunny, as he says." She frowned, and thought. "The Baroness seemed to enjoy the fact the trul had attacked." She tilted her head. "After I ran away, they asked the bards if they'd seen a particular serving girl that needed to be returned, but that the Baroness wasn't to know about it. So perhaps they never told her I'm not a hostage, but they couldn't hide the fact that I was gone for months. That was all. Mostly we sat around and talked. They were interested in Matt, because of Leannan, but that's all."

"Wait, I'm confused," Marcello replied. "Which they did what? Who wouldn't have told the Baroness what?" He scratched at his head. "I'm not sure I'm following all the intricacies of this."

She sighed. "I know." She held up her hands. "It's the English. The cousins, Saorla and Damien asked the bards about me, after I ran away. And they told the bards not to tell the Baroness that they were looking for me."

"And...who wouldn't have told whom you weren't a hostage?" Marcello asked. "Werent you a hostage?"

"They had some story that I was a servant who stole things." She replied. "Not that I was a runaway hostage. Aisling," She added, with a hint of pride, "turned them away cold. Told them that bards never give out the whereabouts of those in their protection." She said, grinning despite herself.

He laughed. "That sounds familiar," he replied, and grinned back. "I thought maybe they didn't tell their Dierdre, and I was confused. So that's that, then, and we got you back? Is there anything we should be looking out for with this lot?"

"Just.. Saorla's an opener, Matt said. She can use her thumbs and open a door between Cabhon and here. I don't know if she could get inside the castle, she didn't say. But I'd watch Duncan closely." She crossed her arms. "She and Damien are close, too. I don't think they function very well without the other. That's it."

"You didn't overhear any more of their plans?" Marcello asked. "Just that they're planning to put their Dierdre out?"
