He sqawked at being jerked and laughed. "I didn't say I wouldn't be pretty. And where will you keep me? In your pocket? On your ship?" He smiled wickedly. "I'm game to see how long you keep to your rules about not fucking."

"You start something on my ship, I will come down on you like the hammer of justice, I don't care how pretty you are." She let her hand slip down from his hair. "Want to put money on it?"

"Three soliels you crack by the first week. I'm not going to be starting anything. I can spend months being a chaste, ever loyal, sailing gentleman." He boasted, and poked her in the ribs. "You on the other hand..."

"Longest I've been without is seventeen years, three months," Judith replied promptly. "What's your record?" She poked him back.

He calculated in his head for a moment. "Twenty years... give or take a month or two." He replied, smirking.

"Being a child does not count," she replied. "I know damn well you didn't lose it on your nineteenth birthday and then save it up thereafter until half an hour ago."

He laughed. "I've been ganging with faeries too long to ever give the exact answer." He paused. "Six months. I was in the brig for four of them, though." He added. "In the interest of fairness."

"And were you in the brig because of it? Or do they still outright hang you for it on a Navy ship?" she asked with interest.

"Yes, and yes. I wasn't on the ship. I was in Melusine." He grinned. "Let's just say that I could teach Marcello a few things about how sleeping with nobility can be a very, very bad idea." He explained. "It's what got me shipped to the Wreath and into the hands of Renaud."

"Oh, Marcello already knows," Judith said briskly. "He were puttin' it to the Admiral's wife; that's how he ended up in Cnoch-na-Niall. Which means he's really learned nothing, except not to go after the married ones with bastard husbands anymore." She eyed Davide, almost playfully, but elected to say nothing. "Renaud's not quite as bad as the Admiral, but he's got ambition."
