Starling immediately took over. "Oi! You know where Le Chat Noir is? I think we got turned around over on St. Canary Street."

Lang hopped down from the cart, looking sheepish. "Sorry, sir. We'll be off. Is this the one that was found earlier today?" She asked, smiling at him.

Curr could very well be said to actually dive for the jingly bag, snatching it out of the air. "Didn't see nothin'," he said, though his voice was a little rasped still from trying not to gag anymore and he backed further away, opening it to look inside.

"Shiny," he breathed out.

"I got paid by the dead bloke," Starling said stubbornly as the driver went on his way. "My loyalty's to him. Why are they so worried about nobody seein' nothin' if they're gonner leave the bodies lying around in dark alleys where anyone willing to climb a cart and peek under a sheet can find them?"

"Keep it, Curr, that means we've got a room for the night." Lang said, walking back towards them, raising her brows. "Don't think most people wander down alleys. You heard the man at the bar. People mob the bodies once they're found."

"When it was Jochy an' Da an' me, we ne'er worried about a room," Curr said. "Jochy's real good at comin' up with stuff. Da an' me are, too."

Mostly because they were mostly unrepentant thieves, and Matt and Curr had the added power of being ravens when they stole and therefore unexplainable and baffling to the people they chose as victims.

"Ugh, I ne'er want to be anywhere a dead body ever again," Curr said, a groan in his voice.

"No marks on his neck means it weren't your dead husband, right?" he said to Babs. "I mean, no offence with the dead part, but . . . right?"

"Well, I am not Jochy and am not good at getting things. And I need a room for the night." She snapped back at Curr. She then looked at Starling and nodded. "Not him. Or anything to do. I told you, he can barely get out of his bed, or remember who he is."

Curr raised a single eyebrow, very slowly, at Lang's tone.

"Well, here," He said, sounding a little intimidated, and tossed her the little sack of coins. "You keep it. I don't really need beds, I c'n always sleep on the headboard or out in a tree."
