Morgana brushed the matter aside. "Back to Jochy. I don't believe he's used to people who do exactly what they say they will."

Cara smiled slightly, and bowed her head for a moment. "I don't think Jochy is used to people," she replied. "He always seems...surprised, fascinated with how people act. Like he doesn't expect every person to act differently from the last one."

"I expect that a lot of people have been exactly the same for him," said Morgana, but two thoughts seemed to connected at once. "It is the same for you, then? Is that why you like to watch them?"

Cara shook her head. "No," she replied. "I just like to study things. Human behavior is fascinating, the things people do and don't say...or the things they say by not saying something. Like you, changing the subject when we started to talk about you and not Jochy."

"What did I not say by changing the subject, then?" Morgana was terrible at sarcasm, so from her tone, she very likely meant the question seriously.

"I'm not sure," Cara replied. "I don't know you well enough to say. At very least, it means you're not one of those people who takes any opportunity to talk about themselves. I think, from what I do know, is that you're more comfortably being out of the center of attention, and you're aware that some people-- like Jochy-- crave that attention."

"Close enough," Morgana said, a little pink in the cheeks in spite of herself. "Jochy's history is long and varied. Mine but for two short periods is rather lacklustre to anyone save for other young wives with small children. And all I've gathered from you so far is that you like knowing how things work, but don't much mind colourful distractions."

Cara laughed. "I like knowing how colorful distractions work, too," she pointed out. "I've made quite a decent living from colorful distractions when I couldn't support myself any other way, so I don't discount their importance."

"Your students?" she asked. "Although I would not think students could be that distracting."

"No," Cara replied. She slipped a hand into her pocket. "I build colorful distractions for other people." She pulled out a small, shining, colorful thing and twisted it. before letting it off of her hands. The thing took flight, fluttering around, an iridescent butterfly. "Like that."
