Seas Of Erin > Cecilia > It's been a hard day's night

It was not often that a commandeur of Aquitaine fluttered downstairs at an unseemly hour of the morning, in full dress, demanding breakfast. It was even rarer that the commandeur was, despite all outward efforts to deny it, a lady. Her bootheels clacking beneath the full red skirts, Judith pounded the trestle and gave a sharp list of orders to a rather startled innkeeper, who still wasn't sure just what the hell was going on in his upstairs and was still a little afraid to ask, lest he be drawn into it.

When he was gone Judith stood back to the trestle, her elbows hooked over the edge, and tapped her foot impatiently.

Well, it had been a long way back to the ship, and Jochy didn't have a room. In the end it had proved to be easier to sweet-talk/bribe the barkeep into letting him sleep on the bench. He was in Judith's company after all...

Besides, he could be rather charming when he fancied. And had money.

Orrie was right, he had to get a decent source of income somehow, money was very handy sometimes.

So, he' slept off the drink, at least enough to wake to the sound of Judith's steps. Really, he did recognize them even in his sleep. Bit of paranoia went a long way to keep you alive, and Jochy blinked and woke. It took a few moments for reality to re-assert itself, and then he noticed the captain.

Would be hard not to. She looked like an angry little radish in that outfit.

With a yawn he pulled himself to his feet, sauntering over to lean against the bar beside her. "Damn yer up early."

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 06:22 PM
"Of course I'm up early," Judith cracked in reply. "If you had all the drinkin' and sleeping with people's apprentices to do that I've got to get around to . . . oh, wait." Her foot carried on patting.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 06:25 PM
"Okay, I drank a few beers. But I ain't sleeping with her." Jochy shot Judith a glance that was almost serene. "Seriously, if yer don't trust me, trust her. She's as stubborn as you and a damn sight scarier."

He fell silent, biting back a few other comments, then sighed and asked "Just how difficult are you intending to make this for us?"

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 06:32 PM
"No. No." She whipped around to Jochy. "I'm not even going to entertain this. I got better things to do with my time, honestly. The most difficult I'm gonner make it is that you ain't settin' foot on my ship. On this I stand firm. Now do you mind?"

The elbow jog she gave to Jochy's hip may or may not have been intentional. She collected the tray from the innkeeper and hoisted it up to her chest. "I got political refugees to feed."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 06:36 PM
"That's a deal then. I'll stay off it." Jochy shot her a happy grin, rubbing his hip where she had jogged him.

But the mention of political refugees was something he couldn't very well ignore, was it?

"How... Alright, yer probably gonna say no, but can I see him? I ain't about to break him out or anything, it's just that... I'd like to talk to him."

Asking for permission. He was trying to change.

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 06:43 PM
"Normally, that'd be a large immediate 'no' but at present he don't seem to be wantin' much to talk to anyone and I don't know if you'll get much further than the rest of us." The tray jangled as she started upstairs again. So far she had not given Jochy so much as a good hard look.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 06:46 PM
"Well, I am used to getting the silent treatment, and that's never stopped me before." Jochy shrugged and followed upstairs. Then he paused, pondering "Is... the woman there with him as well?"

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 06:51 PM
"Which one?" she drawled lightly. "The one you tried to rape?"

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 06:53 PM
Jochy's lips was a thin, angry line, then he nodded "Yes. The one."

He was trying to owe up to what he had done, but really, the fact that he wasn't really sane, or that he wouldn't do again didn't matter much to other people, did it? The reasons were worth fuck all. What he had done was.

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 07:03 PM
"In the other room. Don't want to keep 'em together but damned if I can figure out a way to keep both of 'em under watch at once. Be easier to move 'em back to the damn ship." Which would be the next move, as soon as she could dig up someone to help her with the escort. She gritted her teeth, then thrust the tray on Jochy. "There. Maybe he'll be more sociable to someone feedin' him."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 07:06 PM
"Well, that's a relief at least. I... hell, I'm gonna have to talk to her eventually i guess, would just wanna figure out what to say first." Jochy grabbed the tray from her, nodding. "Well, I doubt that he'll ever be sociable, but it's worth a shot. I just wanna see how he is."

And well... yeah. That was it.

"Which room is it?"

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 07:14 PM
"He's plotting, is how he is. I'd like to stop him or at least find out how far along he's gotten." She counted down doors, finally selecting one. "Don't get in armslength of him. Put the tray down on the floor and step away from it. In all things, you don't go to him; make him come to you. And don't volunteer any information."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 07:17 PM
"We both know I'm gonna say too much, but I ain't gonna say anything important. hell, the only reason he'll agree to speak to me is most likely to get information out of me. He knows I talk too much. I always do."

Jochy chuckled, shaking his head. "Well, that or trying to get me on his side, but that ain't gonna happen with you there."

Posted by: Judith ni Dowd Mar 30 2008, 07:23 PM
She gave him a crooked grin. "Which is why I will be outside, listening. Best of luck."

She gave him a brisk pat, just shy of a slap, on the shoulder.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 07:25 PM
"You being friendly is creeping me the fuck out." But Jochy smiled a bit when he said it, changing his grip on the tray so he could open the door and get inside without dropping anything.

"Oi, rise and shine, breakfast." He paused for a moment, looking around, trying to locate the man.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 07:32 PM
. . . who was awake, alert, and sitting on the edge of the bed, his left arm firmly attached to the rail. He raised his eyes to Jochy. "Another morning, another new tactic. The countess doesn't work, so she sends you in. A little earlier than I expected."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 07:38 PM
"Yeah, because I'm totally the most trustworthy man around." Jochy smirked, sauntering over to the bed. He stopped just shy of it, putting down the tray on the floor, then pushed it towards the Tuatha with the tip of his boot. "Been lectured left and right what I ain't supposed to do, and supposedly getting with arm's length is one of them I think they're concerned yer might be as rabid as the dogs."

He stepped away, giving Neely a shrug. "Truth be told I wouldn't be here, but Judes ain't wearing that uniform for her fashion sense. Which is lucky since she looks like a radish left too long in the cellar. Aquitaine business yanked her away, I bet it's about the dogs. And she didn't fancy leaving you all on your lonesome so... beggars can't be choosers."

He found a comfy spot where he could lean against the wall and sat down.

"I bet she's hoping I'll break yer sorry ass out of here so she finally has an excuse to kill me."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 07:43 PM
He raised an eyebrow. "Are you here to break my sorry arse out so that Judith will finally have an excuse to kill you? Because I'm afraid that this time I may have to put up a token resistance at being rescued--if rescuing is what you plan on calling it."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 07:47 PM
"No. I'm on Nialla's side in this, beside I've stopped breaking people out of prison. Well, mostly." Jochy added the last after a moment's consideration. "I'm just here with breakfast and to keep an eye out so yer doesn't chew through yer wrist or something."

He shook his head, chuckling somewhat as he watched the man. "Damn yer managed to get people riled up. Nobody knows what the hell to make of you." He scratched the empty spit where his ring had been, and didn't take his eyes off Neely.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 07:51 PM
"Good. I'm on--wait, Nialla?" He looked almost as though he were about to be sick. "Is that what you call her, Nialla? I thought she was being Niabheara these days. Wonderful. If there isn't a better way to rub Daddy's Little Bastard into people's faces, let's try calling her after me as well."

He rolled his eyes. "Whatever she's calling herself, I'm on her side in this as well. Whatever she thinks about it."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 07:56 PM
"Well, she is Niabheara to everybody else. I'm just slow on the uptake." Jochy smirked a bit. "What can I say, she's being all proper countess these days, she might need a bit of a reminder that she's not all court. Same reason I call Judith Judes really... it annoys her."

Jochy shrugged, giving the man a look. "To me yer seem to be about as much on her side as Judes is, which is to say, she's damn useful to whatever cause you have. The best outcome is that yer cause and hers are pretty similar."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 08:00 PM
"Yes, well. If I were anyone else but still knew what I know now about you, I would be very, very sceptical regarding your perspective on any given situation. Just as I am currently very, very sceptical on what miracle of law and nature has persuaded you so firmly into the sea-hag's corner. I thought she wanted to kill you, man. That whole incident where you decimated her crew a few years back."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 08:05 PM
"Well, me and Judes are never gonna be friends. But the thing is, for the longest time she couldn't really off me, and now... well, let's just say I have a friend on her crew that has most likely managed to talk her out of it. I hope." Jochy did actually look a bit worried there, then sighed.

"She wasn't happy about this, can tell you that. Ordered me not to talk to you, but if I absolutely had to, to not reveal anything of importance." That made Jochy laugh, a soft rather amused sound.

"Just makes me happy to see her squirm at times you know? Relying on me."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 08:08 PM
"It's fun to watch her squirm until she gets sick of it, decides she doesn't require you any more and comes squirming back the other direction with a weapon in hand." Very cautiously, and as best he could one-handed, Neely crouched down to the floor to uncover the tray, and twisted his face away from the sudden gout of steam. "Garlic for breakfast. Welcome to Cecilia. Do you want some of this? Apparently your captain believes I am still a starving foundling."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 08:14 PM
"Way to go, fueling my paranoia." Jochy smirked at Neely, then sighed. "Don't I know it. I keep hoping that there'll always be one more emergency that is more important than dealing with me. So far that seems to have worked alright. Or maybe she's mellowing in her old age."

He managed to look serious for a moment, then chuckled again. "Oh bloody hell that smells delicious. Don't mind if I do." He didn't move that much closer though, just shook his head. "Haven't eaten a thing yet, just woke up. Was sleeping on the bench downstairs, damn I'm sore all over." He stretched and grimaced. "So, what do you have there?"

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 08:24 PM
"It's not paranoia if it's true." He uncovered the second dish. "I have no idea what this is suppose to be. Ever since I got to this country I have eaten parts of a cow that have no business being consumed by anything bipedal. Foetal calf's-liver. I can't say much for Northern cooking, but I've never encountered anyone in the Erins who would willingly consume a bovine abortion." He poked a spoon into the dish and held it out to Jochy. "I think this is pork. It could be a local orphan. But it should be safe. Eat with care."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 08:31 PM
"Like yer one to talk by the way, your people drink jam for fucks sake!" Jochy smirked and scooted closer- "As long as the bits doesn't talk back, I'm fair g-me. I'm way over the warm and juicy and still alive stage by now." Jochy accepted the stew. "Of course, I should point out that it'd be pretty useless to try to poison me or anything since nobody would really give a damn. Think that's half the reason she stuck me here." He sniffed the bowl, but not from suspicion.

Suddenly he was far too hungry.

But not too hungry to give Neely a look. "Sorry if I don't trust you, but I don't. I mean I completely get why you wanna off Titania, but stealing from yer daughter? Not very trust inspiring. Or working with the Puck."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 08:40 PM
"Ah, there we go. Conversation turns predictable." He, too, didn't seem to care much whether or not the stew contained orphans, and tucked in. "I wasn't interested in inspiring trust until I got caught at it. You should recognise the dilemma." He gave Jochy a wry look. "I decided that the poor child's going to have enough enemies when she gets back home, she doesn't need to worry about me being amongst them."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 08:47 PM
"Predictable? I mean I don't have nothing against the critter..." Jochy swallowed some stew and waved his spoon empathically "I mean sure, he was probably the one that pulled that mind switch on me that had me think i was a girl for a month, but it worked out alright in the end. Hell, I'd thank him for it if it wasn't an insult with yer people." Jochy chuckled and continued. "Niabheara's the one that's paranoid about him, apparently he tried to sleep with her or something. Think she takes offense over that. And she seems dead set on thinking it's working with Auberon."

Jochy shrugged and ate some more stew. "You think she's gonna go back then? Damn, was half hoping she'd wipe her hands about this whole deal and just go off and be happy somewhere else. It's just a bloody castle."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 08:52 PM
"It's the Puck," Neely replied, half-laughing. "If it didn't try to sleep with everyone, I'd be concerned it had a fever." He shook his head, giving Jochy a stern look. "It's working for me. That's hardly less reassuring in anyone's opinion, I know. I doubt Auberon even knows where it is just now. But it hates Titania. Impress that one fact upon it and it should keep its talons to itself."

He picked at his own stew, balancing the bowl atop his bent knees. "Oh, I think she'll go back. I don't think she has a choice."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 08:56 PM
"She should never have gone back from the start." Jochy grimaced, giving Neely a glare. "The Queen bitch would never leave her alone, no matter how much of a good girl she was. Not after you." He dug the spoon down into the stew again, eating in silence for a little.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 09:03 PM
"And what would you have her do, Jochy?" His voice was amused, but his eyes were hard. "Would you have spirited her off, like something out of a nursery story, so she take up in some woodcutter's cottage somewhere and live and die blissfully unaware of what she really was? Nobody here is concerned with her being happy, Jochy. Not even her, I shouldn't wonder."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 09:08 PM
"I was the one that bloody well told her who she was, remember? Just didn't know the whole story at the time. If I could go back and change it, I would. The word to listen for here is -blissfully- unaware, not everybody's in it for the power like you." Jochy gave Neely a glare, putting down the empty bowl. "And maybe they ain't concerned for her being happy, but they damn well should be. Why the hell does she have to go around fighting this bloody war anyways? You was dead and gone and should have stayed that way."

Yeah, he sounded rather upset at that.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 09:15 PM
"It's not as if being resurrected is something I planned here," Neely retorted around a mouthful. He swallowed and went on more clearly: "If I had planned it, I would've left a little note for someone. I'm not sure for whom."

He set down his own half-emptied bowl. "If I hadn't turned up again, I'd be a negligent father who left her to fight her own battles. Now that I have turned up again, I'm clearly moving her to fight my battles for me. Why don't you ask her why she's fighting?"

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 09:22 PM
"Well, it would be a problem with that note, wouldn't it? Seeing as there's not a single bloody person left in the world who would have given a crap at the time. Hell, yer worse at making friends than I am." Jochy twirled the spoon between his fingers, stretching out one leg so he could sit a bit more comfortable. "And I would. Except she's about as pissed at me as you are, so it ain't likely she'd tell me a bloody thing. I swear, you two are growing more and more alike every year."

"And it's less turning up than getting caught turning up you know? If I hadn't run into Giles there you wouldn't even be here being on her side and everything." The irony was as thick as the stew.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 09:28 PM
"Have I denied I had to get caught before I turned docile? Review the conversation. Have I denied anything?" He stood up, as if Jochy's leg were invading his personal space, and looked down on the man from the vantage of full height. "It's hardly my business if you've finally done something to piss the girl off."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 09:35 PM
"Yer not an idiot Neely." Jochy looked up at the man. "Yer would have to be one to deny what's bloody obvious. Thing is, that she ain't an idiot either. And yer might not have denied a bloody thing, but you haven't explained anything either."

Jochy shrugged, seemingly not caring that Neely loomed over him. Instead he flexed his foot a bit, as if testing how much it hurt today. Moderately.

After a moment he looked up, looking rather amused. "Hell, yer even less trustworthy than me and a hell of a lot smarter. That makes you a hell of a lot more dangerous. Wouldn't be half as surprised if Judes business with the navy is to get yer locked up good and proper in a tallfolk jail with proper iron bars. I think she's shagging the new Grand Commandeur or something, so he's bound to know what you Tuatha is all about. Better to have you taken out of the picture rather than have you stab her in the back after all."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 09:45 PM
"And that would be up to Judith, wouldn't it?" He scoffed, twisting at the tight cuff on his right wrist. "What are you trying to do, shame me into a sense of conscience? It's a pity we've been apart so long or I'd do the same with you."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 09:49 PM
"Yeah, it is up to Judes. And if yer doesn't get it, I am trying to find a way to at least not completely suspect you of hiding a dagger behind yer back. Damnit Neely, I don't want to be yer enemy. But it was always impossible to be yer friend. Or ally. Or whatever." He gave the man an angry glare.

"And someone already nabbed my conscience good and proper, I'm loyal to her these days. It's a novel feeling really."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 09:52 PM
"She does have that effect on most people, I've noticed." Neely looked bored. "All concerns for her potential happiness aside, I want her to win. I want her to do what she was born to do, oust the royal bitch and then perhaps get along with living happily ever after. I trust we can be on the same side in that much."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 09:59 PM
"Oh it ain't Nialla." Jochy stressed the name with a smirk. "I'm just helping her out on behalf of all the shit I've messed up for her other the years."

Jochy pulled himself up on his feet, making sure to put the majority of his weight on the right foot. "So that's really what she is then? To the two of you? Just a body to put on the throne. No wonder you and Judes gets along so splendidly. What would you have done if she was a boy I wonder? Tried again?"

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 10:05 PM
"Fortunately for us all, she wasn't." He could only put one hand behind his back, his spine set straight. "And what exactly is she to you? I've always wondered."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 10:12 PM
"Friend. Hopfully. Some of us actually do have them you know. We ain't all living in a g-me of masks and shadows or whatever the hell it would be in Common. What do you want to hear? That I'm into her because of you? Started out that way really, but the girl's got enough charm of her own once you get to know her."

Jochy kept his eyes on Neely, shaking his head. "I really hate this you know? Everybody's sitting with their part of the puzzle and refuses to share 'cause they don't trust each other."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 10:14 PM
"That's because some of us have nothing to offer but secrets. Get rid of those, and there's no value to us anymore." He simply watched Jochy shake his head, no expression on his face.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 10:21 PM
"Damnit..." Jochy fell silent, trying to push back the look of pity he was fairly certain showed on his face. He never was good at hiding his feelings, and that was about the saddest thing he had heard in a long time.

A long bloody time.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 10:25 PM
Neely's own expression did not change. "Oh, what now?" he said, voice rich with disgust.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 10:29 PM
"Nothing." Jochy sighed and shrugged. "Just those words were about the saddest thing I've ever heard. Damn I'm glad I stopped idolizing you."

He really seemed to mean it.

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 10:31 PM
"I'm glad you did too," Neely replied, with the same sharp-edged honesty. "It makes this conversation that much easier."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 10:39 PM
"Can't really blame me for it, can you? I was just a kid, yer were handsome, sexy and so bloody in control all the time. Takes a bit to figure out that ain't what really matters in the long run." Jochy shrugged. "Coversation with you is never easy, yer treat it like a bloody war all the time."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 10:44 PM
"You are still a kid," Neely told him icily. "You're a slightly larger one, but still a child. You go through stages, and then grow out of them. First you latch yourself on to people. Then you latch yourself onto ideals. You and the countess appear to be going through the same stage at the same time: you both seem to be searching for an absolutely morality. Enjoy that stage. You'll shed it the way you shed your milk teeth."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 10:50 PM
Jochy actually broke into a laugh then, shaking his head. "Good point. Ain't gonna argue it. Know too well how bloody fucked up I am. So what happens to you then? Yer stuck forever in the bitter and cynical stage? And I ain't searching for morality. I don't give a fuck about it. What it's all about right now is the people. I've screwed over everyone I cared about, I am trying to stop that. Simple as that."

He shrugged, then admitted "Or rather, not that simple." He gave Neely a long look, then smiled. "Truth be told, if Judes hadn't grabbed me to watch yer arse, I would have bugged you until she let me. I wanted to see you again."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 10:57 PM
"Eventually you find your last stage and settle there," Neely replied. "You don't progress. You simply become more of what you are. Where do you think you'll settle, I wonder?"

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 11:01 PM
"Dunno yet. Hopefully in a better place than this." Jochy sighed, a small smile still playing on his lips. "Might not count for much, but I'm glad yer alive even if yer complicate shit."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 11:08 PM
"Being alive is always a blessing," Neely acknowledged, rather ruefully, with his head turned down and his eyes cast aside. "Being alive, there is still some place to go."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 11:15 PM
"Damnit, last time I saw you this down was when yer was chained up in Judes hold dead set of going back home to die." Jochy sighed, hooking his thumbs in his belt. "Listen, there was another reason I wanted to talk with you as well, besides finding out how I'd handle it."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 11:21 PM
"How you'd handle it?" Neely looked amazed. "There, you see? That's the Jochy I recall, always serving yourself first. What exactly was it that you wanted? If it has anything to do with how I resurrected, I respectfully decline comment."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 11:26 PM
"Well, everybody else seems pretty damn convinced I'm gonna get spooked around you or fall for yer devilish charms or something, can't blame a man for trying to find out if that's true or not. But truth be told I'm just relieved that all my talk of being over you actually was true."

But the last had him roll his eyes a bit. "Hell, thought yer knew me here, it's all about me, remember? I don't bloody care how you were brought back, there's been enough weird shit dogging our backs for the last months that yer just the icing on the cake. No, I wanted to ask about Joy. Gioia."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 11:28 PM
"What of her?" He did not fall back, but his posture grew a little more defensive.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 11:34 PM
Jochy opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something, but no words came out. For a moment he struggled, then shook his head as he smirked at his own stupidity. "She hates my guts. For good reason. Only thing is, just like Judes, she hates someone I ain't anymore. And I've got no wish to return there. I... I guess what I'm trying to say is..." He was trying, but it was hard.

"I'm gonna talk to her. But I gotta get the gutst to do so first. In the meantime I just wanted to say I ain't gonna hurt her. Ever again."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 11:36 PM
"And this is where you and I part ways," Neely said, almost kindly. "I have never heard anyone insist so much that he's changed for the better. She doesn't want to speak to you. She wants to split you open and have a look at the colour of your insides. You didn't change stripes half soon enough to sooth her."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 30 2008, 11:42 PM
Jochy sighed and closed his eyes, nodding. "I know. Was pretty well evident from the looks she gave me, but still... gonna try."

He seemed set to do so with the same stubborness that he had about sticking to anything else he started obsessing over.

"So, guess yer made yerself one friend that ain't dependent on yer secrets to like you at least, 'cause the woman I knew wasn't anything nearly as simple as a bodyguard."

"She was assigned to me. It was simple happenstance that we got along." He shot Jochy another lingering, hard look. "Stay away from her. I say that for your own good as much as hers."

Jochy opened his mouth to protest, then nodded reluctantly "Alright. I will." He was not above taking advice after all.

And he didn't ask who had done the assigning, that seemed to imply that there might be someone backing Neely. Someone with an interest in keeping him alive.

"So, in the spirit of trying to be trustworthy and all that shit, how long are yer gonna hold poor Giles's name? Thought you of all people would understand how shitty that felt."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 30 2008, 11:56 PM
"I had every intention of turning that name back over to him before certain persons kept us all from leaving town." He shrugged. "Failing that, I'll turn it over to the captain once we're well on our way out of this place. For God's sake, why is it that everyone seems to think I'm going to do something nefarious and permanently scarring to the lad?"

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 31 2008, 12:01 AM
"Because he's got as shitty a streak of luck as both you and me have ever seen? The man's bent over, just waiting to be fucked, and not in a good way."

Jochy grimaced, giving Neely a smirk. "Don't give the name to Judes, please. The man already owe her money, hate to see what she'd do if she got an even tighter grip on his balls."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 31 2008, 12:10 AM
Neely laughed aloud. "There's a thought, as well. But no. Pure helplessness doesn't do it for me anymore. If he wants to wrangle with the hag for his name, I wish him all the best."

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 31 2008, 12:12 AM
"Oh don't tell me you slept with him." Jochy almost groaned as he gave the older man a look. "He doesn't need that aggravation..."

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 31 2008, 12:20 AM
"Almost. Not quite. We were interrupted by an update from the bodyguard." He raised an eyebrow at Jochy. "What, don't tell me you slept with him?"

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 31 2008, 12:24 AM
"No. Believe it or not, he ain't my type. I don't go for the needy fuckups. Just like the man, can sympathize with him." Jochy shot Neely a grin, then shrugged. "Judes is probably gonna be back soo. Yer gonna be alright with this? The iron and everything I mean?"

Posted by: Neely O'Niall Mar 31 2008, 12:27 AM
"The irons I can deal with. The countess, I don't know. I will make the attempt." He bowed his head to Jochy.

Posted by: Jochy Melechen Mar 31 2008, 12:32 AM
"Just remember yer dealing with a girl as well as a countess, alright? She doesn't have a single damn reason in the world for trusting you. Should try to give her one." Jochy grimaced, biting back the urge to guve Neely a hug because seriously, the man had never been huggable.

Ever.
