Darai walked the halls of her heart.

She stopped, with a suddenness that was strange, placing her hand on one part of the wall, closing her eyes and taking in a soft breath. She felt the call more than heard it... all you had to know was to speak her name, to call her, once the deal had been set.

And she grinned, flashing her sharp pointed teeth. Perhaps she'd leave off tormenting her captives for the moment.

She would go to him, simply enough, finding the one she had, for the moment, bound herself to.

"Little brother," she spoke aloud before she came into being, no longer wearing the bloody silk but instead now what looked like incredibly soft, downy suede-like leather. the only thing that was the same was the two small black leather straps that appeared nearly ready to burst and give her away to the world.

"Hello, little brother," She spoke in a sweet, soft whisper. The air around her crackled with electricity. Darai was in her element, drawing off her two captives. They were human, and so they wanted.

Around her and behind her glowed the walls of her heart, barely visible through the world that the man knew... the soft blue of them tinting her skin, though they didn't seem to touch anything else.

And all you had to do was want to feed her, anymore.

"I am naught but your humble servant," the man answered, dropping to his knees as he kissed the floor before her feet. "I am not worthy to be called your brother. How do you fare, oh, my Queen?"

She smiled down at him, feeling the power he gave her lick up through her false skin, the costume she showed the world when she so felt. She gestured gently with long fingers for him to stand back up, her other hand running down over her own hip, feeling the soft fuzziness of the dress she appeared to be wearing.

"It is lovely of you to ask," she said, and laughed, soft and sweet. Like this she seemed a little shorter than him-perhaps just that little bit helpless-looking. Maybe, indeed, she seemed like something that could be overcome or tamed. Brought to one's will.

"Little Sister gives me light. She is a good gift. I thank you for her." An unwilling, steel-backed, snobbish prissy modest -bitch- of a woman... but she did as she was told, in the end.

Then she shifted, slightly. The shadows changed, seemingly moving of their own volition over her skin.

"I have something you want," She murmured.

The man glanced up, only slightly, giving her a curious look. "You have the child in your possession?" he asked her eagerly. "You will give her to me, as promised?"

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 01:42 AM
Darai closed her eyes, slowly. With the shadows flickering over them, it was hard to tell the difference.

She flashed perfect white teeth.

"Half of a matched set," She replied obliquely, stepping forwards, walking slowly and thoughtfully with her arms crossed just under her chest. She was barefooted, but her feet didn't seem to quite touch the ground.

"There are two of them."

And the knowledge, shivering up her spine, of how far she'd have to go to get the other.

The man looked up, cautiously, but still admiringly. "Twins?" he asked, sounding breathless. "Two children? I...I do not wish for you to trouble yourself with anything that was not part of our original agreement. I am not prepared to pay any greater sum at this time."

"The agreed-upon deal was temples and worship, little brother," She said softly. Her voice stayed casual; as if she could have gone without worship or temples and done it merely for the lark of the thing. But she needed those things. Needed them to get what she wanted, what she -needed- . To be herself again.

One fist clenched, in the shadows where he would not see it.

"Are you still prepared to give me that? To build a temple to me on your land, and give me prayers and worship, requests and deals? To send people who are -wanting- to me?" She tilted her head at him, braids falling across her face, one hip jutted out.

She needed their wants. Their desires.

-Needed- it.

Like an addict gone too long with only a taste here or a drop there.

"That is precisely what I intend to do," the man assured the woman, keeping his head down once more. "If you do not desire any greater payment for the second child, then I would be most appreciative of your assistance."

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 02:12 AM
She thought about that.

"I do not," She replied, slowly. "I will get you the second child." Because of some thought that had occured to her, vaguely. That the parasite had gone on a ship into the Erins.

It could be a coincidence, her thought of the sea-witch's ship with the parasite, the French sailor Darren had wanted so badly...

And it could be a coincidence. But she doubted it. And if she could sweep one more thing out from under Darren's nose...

"Your claim will be all the greater with both of them." She searched out across the worlds. "Twins, young women," She murmured. "That is a great claim indeed for the man who weilds that power."

The man smiled slowly, lifting his face up as if the woman were a sun and he were basking in her light. "And your empire will be all the greater for it," he agreed, then nodded. "The first child," he asked, after a moment. "May I have her?"

She paused, in her small, slow stroll through the shadows. The walls of her heart continued to glow on her skin, even if the man could no longer really see them. She turned her face away from him, looking off into the distance, seeing far beyond the place they were in now.

There was the girl in her sweet, incense-filled room. In the left chamber. Darai's hand slowly raised to press to a point over her chest. She considered.

She shivered, visibly, and smiled.

"How badly do you want her?" She asked, in a husky whisper.

Posted by: Fortuna Apr 25 2007, 02:33 AM
"Mistress, mistress," the man replied smoothly. "I have already given you all I can give, and while I would happily give every breath of my spirit willingly for you, I know that it is unwise to make such negotiations. And we are already in agreement, are we not? It would show weakness if I were to allow you to chance the price now."

His eyes flicked up to her. "But perhaps you will tell me what you are after, and perhaps if I enjoy the price you wish to exact..."

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 02:39 AM
"That is true," She replied, her smile bright and sweet. Amused. There wasn't much more she could ask this man for beyond his own skin, and as much as that was its own temptation...

And as much as her smile widened, flashing her teeth... as much as it seemed suddenly her dress was even more barely staying on...

Oh, he would -enjoy- it would he?

"You make a suggestion, Little Brother," She said flirtatiously, tilting her head at him slightly. Again it seemed that she looked almost like something that could be truly bound. The weakness of what she was now as compared to what she had been...

But he wouldn't know that for what it was.

"I thrive on -desire-," She whispered, watching him intently. "that is what feeds me. You will follow me to the girl. We will discuss it there."

Posted by: Fortuna Apr 25 2007, 02:50 AM
The man rose to his feet, looking intently at her. "We will remain here," he answered with a smile. "I do not wish to become so entangled in desire that I lose my head. I am already your most humble servant, and I assure you I will remain such, but I cannot serve you so well if I am enslaved."

He looked hungrily at her nonetheless. "Believe me, it is a trial, Milady. Instead, perhaps, I will offer you another child in return for this one? One you may keep?"

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 02:53 AM
Damn. He'd gone all smart on her.

Darai nodded, good-naturedly. So they would stay here. It did not bother her to do it. But damn, if she hadn't been close to simply taking the price out of his skin. She'd have let him have the land.

Eventually.

"That is true, I suppose," She said with a note of regret in her voice, tapping her chin with one finger. The movement paused at his offer, and she turned her dark, dark eyes to look right at him.

She tilted her head, slowly, fingering one of her many braids. She could not quite keep the eager pleasure at yet another offering, yet more power, from coating her expression.

"How much of a child?" She asked, softly. "There is a part of me that desires youth... but it is not the part that stands before you."

Posted by: Fortuna Apr 25 2007, 03:05 AM
"However much of a child as you require, oh Queen of all things eternal," the man answered with a dip of his head. "If you require an adult, I shall find you an adult. Whatever sort of companion you wish."

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 03:10 AM
Darai considered it. Then she smiled, slowly, and shook her head again.

"There is a man I want, a sailor, but he is far from here and outside of your influence." Just to see Darren scream at having something he wanted disappear. Just to prove her point; that she was better. Stronger.

That she would rule, while he would grieve.

"Little Sister is enough for now," She said with a shake of her head. "Unless you are wanting to trade her," She spoke teasingly, with a bright, musical, sweet laugh. "Though I doubt you could find her a husband now."

This was conversation to cover the part where she was thinking, and thinking fast.

Then, slowly, she smiled. Wickedly.

"I want to keep the girl long enough to use her against her sister," She said in her husky whisper. "But if you are wanting her now... I am as much your creature, Little Brother, as you are mine." She dipped her head, slowly. "You have only to command me." Her voice dropped even more. Suggestive, and maybe a little sweet.

Posted by: Fortuna Apr 25 2007, 03:18 AM
"I said a man, a child," the man pointed out, shaking his head. "I would not promise you a particular man or a particular child, for my reach is not as broad as yours, my power not as great, and it would be remiss of me to promise that which I cannot guarantee."

He dipped his head again. "If you require her to reach her sister, then I suppose I can leave her in your care. But I do not even know if the sister is necessary for me to acquire the land."

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 03:23 AM
"It is better to control the whole of the bloodline, Little Brother," Darai said reasonably. "That way you cannot have an unexpected problem much later in the line of things. This way you will have both of those who own the land-and no one will dare dispute your claim."

She turned, looking further back into the heart.

"I will go now," She said softly. "And when I have them both you will know. The shell you carry even now, from our first meeting... it will let you know, and I will come to you."

She raised an eyebrow, pursing her lips only very slightly as if she would any moment now kiss him.

"Be prepared to greet me," she murmured.

Posted by: Fortuna Apr 25 2007, 03:34 AM
The man dropped back down to his knees, nodding his head to her. "I will always be at the ready for you, my mistress," he assured her.

Posted by: Darai Mendare Apr 25 2007, 03:36 AM
She paused, watching him for one more moment.

"Indeed," was all she said, before simply no longer being in the room with him, taking the eerie blue glow that had lit her skin with her.

She had a captive to converse with. And this time she'd make sure she got some serious information out of the little brat.
