Niabheara rolled her eyes dramatically. "Paugh, do you mean I've been going about in dread that your parents are going to think I am pimping your sister?"

Miranda frowned. "What-ing my sister?" she asked, looking very much as if she were trying to place the word.

Niabheara pinched the bridge of her nose, hiding her eyes. "Facilitating sex between a man and a woman in exchange for money. It's Aquitainean, where it appears to happen so frequently they have need of an actual verb to describe such transactions."

"Oh, Lysander's mother did that," Miranda replied. "I mean, not for other people, I don't think. But that's why I have a brother in the first place. And why he came to live with us. Why would you be doing that with Goneril?" she asked. "I always found the concept sort of odd, really. But I've met Aquitaineans, so I suspect I understand why they need to pay for sex."

"I didn't do it for Goneril," she said, eyes still shaded, "I only found them a place to meet."

"Well, I didn't think you had," Miranda replied. "I would have heard about it if any money exchanged hands. I meant, why would my parents think that?" She shook her head. "My mother is suspicious. My father is sort of a hopeless romantic at heart and is convinced that since she's never found love at home, maybe she'll find it now."

"He's at least a hundred-thirty," said Niabheara in exasperation. "I have no idea what they could e'en talk about, unless your sister has a heretofore unexplored interest in folog n'othrusa."

"I have no idea what that is," Miranda replied. "Goneril says they talk about history. And politics."

Niabheara looked flabbergasted. "You mean they really are holed up somewhere discussing folog n'othrusa?" She burst out laughing. "I feel slightly better about lending them a room now."

"I still have no idea what that word is, but if it's history and politics, yes," said Miranda. She shifted the baby around, shaking her arm out a little as she did it. "Rillie has some theory about British folklore being related to Tuatha history, and the Unseelie queen got her some Tuatha history books in Common so she can read them."
