"It's not like they let girls go to sea as girls." She said, amused as well, and shrugged, looking down at herself. "Well. There came a time when I couldn't pass as a boy any longer. But I knew cannon, so I went to land for awhile, and was a sort of solider. Mostly I ran messages or supplies. No one ever suspects a young lady walking around, trying to get something for a sick child or father or what have you." She smiled, and nudged him. "Is that enough for right now?"

"I didn't mean for you to spill your whole sad story all at once," he said, playfully, before he nodded. "That's plenty. Explains the guns, anyways."

"I had to tell you so much to make us almost even." She replied, playfully, reaching out a hand to tickle his side. "I'm glad I settled the mystery of the guns for you."

He slapped at her hand, chuckling. "I didn't mean for you to just tell me," he explained. "I meant that I just don't want us to hit one of those awkward silences again. Where I say something about your past and you go all quiet."

She laughed at his slap and sobered slightly. "But you do that too." She replied. "I hardly ever do it, and if we talk about my past, I tell you. I don't tell you things about men because you always say you assume I have history. I take that to mean you don't want me to talk about it."

"Well, that, and because it's kind of creepy?" His eyebrows went up. "I don't mean you personally. Just in general."

"Why?" She asked. "I wouldn't tell you that sort of thing. But they were people that I knew." She said, surprised.

"Well, that's a bit different," he admitted. "Other'n Darcy, the only stories I can tell you are probably about all Leannan's boyfriends."

She looked surprised. "Oh." She said. "I didn't know that. I thought you had... other people." She said. "But just your wife?"

"Um . . . just my wife in a relationship where we talked to one another and actually had, you know, feelings?" He looked a little taken aback.
