The one with BB Umar In Neverland
Umar, now pint-sized, which was more like quart-sized in comparison to everyone else, crawled on his hands and knees out through the table on Dareen's side. "Hullo?" he called, trying to sound younger than he was. He frowned, trying to remember how Starling spoke.

Re: The one with BB Umar In Neverland
Dustmotes swirled in the still light from the dirty windows. The bed had long been stripped, the pile of belongings at its foot had vanished. The fireplace held long-cold ashes. The front door was wide open, unguarded, beckoning to a bright spring day punctuated with birdsong.

Re: The one with BB Umar In Neverland
The boy frowned, looking worriedly around the room. He ran a finger over the mantel-- it came up dusty.
Shielding his eyes from the sun, he ducked-- and then realized he no longer had to duck-- out the door, and looked around outside. "Hullo?" he called again. "Somebody?"

Re: The one with BB Umar In Neverland
The front garden had become a waist-high tangle of butterfly weed and honeysuckle, growing up the front wall of the house and nearly obscuring the small path that led away from the door. But from somewhere nearby another voice, a childish, girlish voice, called back, as in an echo: "Hullo? Hullo?"

Umar had to fight his way through the waist-high weeds, pushing them back with both hands. "Hullo?" he called. "Is somebody there?! I don't know where I am!"

Re: The one with BB Umar In Neverland
From around the corner of the house peeked a dark-skinned girl, around Umar's apparent age, in a loose white dress falling off her shoulders and with a crown of braided honeysuckle atop her velvet-black hair. She blinked at him in surprise, then, stepping closer, actually sniffed toward him, her nose wrinkling. "I know not where thou art but I know from whence thou'st come," she said brightly. "Be not forlorn. 'Tis a pleasant country we have found."
Her eyes spread gleaming black from corner to corner, two wide sockets filled with obsidian.

Re: The one with BB Umar In Neverland
Umar took a step back, startled, and then another step forward, as if unable to help himself. "Are you...do you...who are you?" he asked.

"I am not, and I do not," she replied nicely. "And I cannot tell thee who I am for I have no name of my own, only what they call me. I am on a quest," she added, quite pleased with herself.

Umar looked the girl over from head to toe in spite of himself. "A quest for what?" he asked. "Perhaps I can..." He realized as he was saying it that he had a task of his own to complete. "Help you?"

"I am in a lady's owing and must not return 'til I have brought her the child who was took," the girl said. "No one warned me she was wildling." She sounded irked, which also made her sound completely adorable.
