Barbara went very still, looking him over. "You were smart about that." She replied, cautiously. "So this.. is goodbye."

Marcello nodded, and took a deep breath. "I'll miss you, mostly," he said. "Apart from the bit where you like to make jokes about my sexual abilities in front of other people."

Barbara snorted and then hugged him, gently and quickly, ducking back into her own space. "I don't remember ever doing that." She said, good humoredly. "I'll miss you too. Good luck in your new life. And with the new wife."

Marcello hugged her back, and looked a bit amused at her hasty retreat. "You do it a lot," he answered sagely. "Good luck with the bard. You're still welcome here, you know. With or without him."

"I'm not going anywhere without him." She replied, smiling, although her tone was serious. "We'll see. Well." She backed away a step. "Goodbye." And then she turned to walk back down the hall.
