Davide mouthed the unfamiliar word to himself but identified it as an insult, and followed her. "People want to be pleased, and flattered, and charmed." He countered. "Whether they're in the Navy or not. Can you say you're any different?"

"Believe it or not, no." She flashed him a smile from over her shoulder. "I already know I am the most charming, devastating person in the room. Anyone else is just catching up to the obvious."

Davide caught up to her and looked slightly confused. "Well then. I suppose I don't have to tell you things you don't know." Then he stepped ahead so he could pour the alcohol for her. "Is this enough?" He asked, holding the cup out to her.

She took the cup, looking inquisitively into it, just as she had when Marcello offered her wine. "Is this the electric Kool-Aid fairy booze?" She took just enough to wet her lips, licking the taste off them, then shrugged. "Nope," she concluded, neither disappointed or relieved, and took another, deeper sip.

He filled his own cup, smiling. "You remind me of my tutor, saying all these words I don't know." He looked back over her and took a sip. "But my tutor didn't look like you, or I would have paid more attention." He sighed. "That wasn't flattery, by the way. It was a statement of fact."

"You would have paid more attention to something. Not your lessons." She smirked from over the edge of her cup. "Wedding is over and I am officially ready to go home," she announced. "Not home. Somewhere else. Somewhere warmer. Melusine is warm this time of year, and it's theater season."

He swallowed his drink a little hastily and nodded. "It is, at that, although I hardly know what's popular anymore. I'm going to Melusine too, just as soon as Judith decides to leave. Which might be some time, as long as Lady Meg's daughter is missing." He explained. "We'll probably miss the plays and the pleasant weather."

"You're not missing much. It's all crap comedies this season. Those ones where the maid delivers the letter to the wrong person, and predictable hijinks ensue." She still sighed, longingly. "Oh, you'll be out of here well before then. I hope."

"You don't know?" He replied. "Judith won't leave until she's found or we know where she is." He explained. "Neither will most of the crew. Seth's interested in it too." He took another sip. "I used to think comedies were crap, too. Now it's just nice to sit somewhere and have everything wrapped up in an hour or so."

"Oh I knew," she replied nicely, "I just didn't care. I mean, god forbid I should say anything horrible about little girls getting stolen away by horrid little greedy, grabby monsters. But that's Judes's concern, not mine." She looked innocent as she sipped her wine. "Not all the monsters around here are the Puck."
