Post Who decides the test? 22 Dumann, evening
Seth was in a good mood. A VERY good mood, indeed.

After a sad parting from Davide (sad insofar as they were parting at all), Seth had taken to retracing her steps through the castle, revisiting the places she'd shown Davide because they were suddenly filled with even more happy memories.

Gods, how wonderful it was!

And when, in her wandering, she came across Marcello, her smile brightened just a bit and she waved at the man but made a point to herself that she mustn't gush overmuch. Gods, but it was rude. Though Marcello knew what it was like. Or would know. Or.

Well, she would hold off, anyway.

Marcello squinted at the young woman, frowning at her for a moment before he stepped forward and gave her a polite nod. "Lovely evening, isn't it?" he asked. A bit blandly, for Marcello.

"The loveliest I've yet seen," replied the woman with a grin before extending her hand, apparently to be shaken, rather than kissed, "You likely don't remember me and, being honest, we didn't know one another well even after you had. I'm Seth deCiel and since you are here now, I thought I would say 'hello' and see how you were managing."

"Oh. Ah..." Marcello looked a little relieved. "Seth? I'm...er. You know me," he observed. "I didn't sleep with you, did I?"

The woman laughed a bit, shaking her head, "Oh, yes. I keep forgetting... Gods, all the transformations going on..." She shook her head again as if to clear it and then gestured to herself, "I'm actually a man. Apparently the Puck ran out of transformations to put on me while letting me stay human. So that said, no. No, you did not sleep with me." She pondered adding something to the end but in deference to her love of Davide, a few odd looks Marcello had given him once and pure politeness' sake, she let it drop.

"I am a... a friend of the Countess'. And you once faced a monster for my sake during my previous Puck-transformation." She smiled a little, "As such, I resolved that I should try to be a friend to you but then so many things happened and the wedding and the hobbing and..." She smiled at the man and shrugged, "Gods, I do go on. Your pardon, please."

Marcello waved him away. "No worries; I'm waiting for my lady to finish visiting with her friend. I've nothing but time. Are you...how did a tallfolk come to be here? Not with Niabheara's mother?'

Seth nodded a bit, "Ah, yes. And you a lone tallfolk, having to figure out what to do with yourself. I quite understand that." She smiled a bit, "And there are so few books here and fewer still in Common." She ran a hand over her head, a sympathetic expression on her face, "Not easy."

"And my road is a circuitous one. I knew her and her father when she was young--time passes differently between some worlds, you see--and then when a lover of mine came here, I followed after and... then things got complicated. Suffice to say, I am here more for her than for Judith, though I have known the good captain... Gods, I really must go and reacquaint myself with her..." she trailed off and then made a dismissive gesture.

"So how are you holding up?" she asked, sensing she was prattling on a bit too much, "It is a scary thing, finding yourself in a country so painfully foreign and not knowing, quite, how you came to be there."

"Well, unsettling, but i don't know if I'd call it scary," Marcello answered. "It's quite an adventure, and I can't complain about the company so far."

He looked curiously at the woman. "Tell, me, what do you know of me? As far as, err, what you've heard about me?"

She smiled a little, as if that was exactly the kind of answer she was hoping to hear, "No. No, as far as bizarre kingdoms to wake up in, you did quite well. And to find out that some other-you is engaged to Niabheara?" She tilted her head a little and smiled.

"I know little of you," answered Seth with the barest shrug of her wrists, "I hear that you have been a cad and a conman before you came here. I know that you have a tendency that I share for foolish bouts of self-destructive behaviour, a bright heart, a certain amount of bravery and a mind which adapts quite well." She gestured down at herself with a smile then, "And that the other-you once spent some time as a woman as well. Though I imagine you are quite tired of hearing about him by this point, hm?"

"On the contrary," Marcello replied. "He sounds like a fascinating stranger. It's always funny when people know that a man embellishes details, but then...to see which details they don't think to question."
