"Not ours. I've never heard of it. Poor thing, to be a queen and have to have those gigantic ears." He sighed, and kissed hers. "Not like your perfect ones." He smiled up at her. "You've spoken to them then? I've never spoken to anyone higher than a baron, although I've seen a vicomte."

Re: We may be different from the rest, 22 Dumann, late morning
"Very briefly with Queen Fiona when she arrived; I was mistaken for a servant girl and ordered to make sure she arrived comfortably in her quarters," was there more? Certainly. But there was no reason to talk his head off about her discussions with higher royalty. She laughed a little at the kiss to her ear and squeezed Davide closer, running her hand down his back as she leaned in to kiss the tip of his nose, "I am glad that at least my ears should be lovely. If only to you." The magician winked once and pressed her side against Davide's.
"And I spoke with Queen Pepita a few times before my previous enchantment. It is like speaking with a preternaturally canny child; not that she is foolish, mind, only that she is almost frighteningly honest and quite intelligent in a completely unassuming way. Gods, and what grace. I fear that if I am a woman the rest of my life, I will never be half so elegant." She smiled at Davide, "Though you will nonetheless find me a more than adequate dancing partner, I assure you."

"How can anyone in the world be more elegant than you?" He asked her, seriously. "Everyone pales before you." He said, and then laughed. "I have a hard time believing anyone mistook you for a serving girl. I think you're simply being humble." He poked her side.

"You there!" she barked in a rough approximation of the man's voice, "Girl!" Seth turned to Davide, her eyes shining a bit and took his face in her hands, kissing him on the mouth.
"That is for being so very sweet, my Davide."
She dropped her hands and grinned a bit, "And it is true. Blonde hair and being Tallfolk are neither things which raise your status in the eyes of the people here; I suspect Queen Pepita has even encountered some of this. I was so mistaken." The magician laughed a little, "And had I taken the time to set him aright, I might have missed my chance to dote upon royalty. There are worse things than being mistaken for something else."

Once she stopped talking, Davide kissed her again. "Um. You were saying.. er. Blonde? Why is being blonde bad here?" Then he smiled more shyly. "You do a good impression of a man. All that practice, I suppose."

"Oh, yes. It's very rare in the Tuatha; when Tuatha women glam their hair blond, it is usually a sign that the woman is a prostitute. Or so I am given to understand." She laughed a little and ran a hand over her head, "And oh gods did I not hear the end of it..."
At the shy smile, she could only shrug, "I am glad I can at least do a good impression of something. Gods know I spend most of my time trying to do a good impression of myself." She winked a bit and, slowly, ran a hand through Davide's hair.

"That's awful!" He said forcefully, tugging her closer. "I hope no one ever said such a thing to your face. I'd have to duel them." He told her, kissing her. "I hope they don't say any such things about redheads, because then you'll have to duel them."

"It is," she agreed, happily letting herself be tugged, "And you should not worry. The ones who said that to me are either dead or old, mad and lost enough that you would feel quite foolish threatening them." She smiled warmly at him; gods, it had been so long since someone wanted to fight for her. Even for something so piddling.
It felt so good.
"And you need not worry about redheads. The term is, when applied to the Tuatha, 'Mabhe-born', which refers to the previous Countess, Mabhe." Seth smiled quietly, holding the memory of the woman close for a moment, "In my youth I could not imagine a phrase so complimentary."

"Then I too, am happy to be compliemented." He replied, holding her. He started to kiss her neck. "And won't threaten anyone if they say such things to you. However, if they insult me.." He grinned at her.

Seth let out a long sigh as she craned her head away from Davide to give him a bit more neck to kiss, chuckling a little, wrapping an arm around him, "I shall happily turn their boots into water and turn their clothes into burlap," she muttered happily.
