Re: Bright and Early in the Morning, 26th Cantlos
"I don't know." From her shrug it seemed that it was either none of her concern, nor did she care, as long as there was a good story out of it. "Half the folks say it was her daughters drove her to it, and half of them say she knew she was sick and would rather end it all herself than be a burden to her husband. Which did no good anyway, since he just followed straight after her."

"Probably because she died and he didn't want to go on without her. Or thought he had caused it," Marcello said,a bit sadly. "Well. The new Countess is a Dowd, not a Niall, and Meg is a Dowd, and I'm sure that makes quite a lot of difference."

"Hope for your sake she is," said Asphodel with a small smirk. "There's not a lot of people would miss 'em when they're gone."

Marcello smiled slightly. "You would be surprised," he said. "A lot of people love her. A lot. She's not like the rest of them. Really," he said. "The worst they can do is say no. Would you ask the tinkers?"

"Do I look like the rustin' Queen of the Pavees to you?" she snorted. "Have her ask Nialli-Sean if she cares to. I don't have any say o'er what they do and do not do."

"Nialli-Sean?" Marcello asked. "Nialli-- is that a relative?" He looked curious, intrigued.

The girl looked irritated. "Nialli-Sean is the king of the Pavees and he decides all the stuff like that," she said. "Least he's the king of the ones I was with. Leastways again he was the king when I was with 'em last year. Liam Og might've taken 'em over since then."

"The Pavees?" Marcello asked, looking confused. "What the hell are the Pavees? What the-- I don't know who any of these people are...oh!" He said. "The tinkers? They're the Pavees?"

She shrugged. "Tinkers is what everyone else calls them. They're Pavees. I'm not one of 'em. They just let me travel with 'em, sometimes."

"Pavees," Marcello replied, nodding. "Pavees. All right, I'll remember that. Is there anything else...that the other people ignore about them or don't know about them or take for granted? That we could be more respectful about?"
