Lang glanced away. "Sorry, Andre." She said shortly. "We still need to find Spider." She said flatly. "At least we've more ideas on where to look."

Andre looked confused. "How would we have more ideas where to look?" he asked. "We do. We need to find her before something happens to her."

Judith shut her eyes momentarily. "She's one deck below us, movin' toward the aft." She jerked her head toward the ladder and started off without waiting for them.

Lang moved off to follow Judith. "I'm not afraid of her being hurt, unless one of the people she's trying to garrote fights back."

Andre hurried after Judith, then looked at Barbara. "Why would Spider garrotte anyone?"

Judith paused on the verge of swinging down the ladder. "Good point. Why would you say that, Lang?"

"Weren't we just talking about her sleepwalking, and acting antsy and odd?" Lang asked, looking between them. "She was off, back on the ship. She told me what happened, back when we were captured. And she followed us, back on the ship, invisible the whole time, and now someone's neck got broke with a rope? Who else? You think the pirate did it? Because the only one of us who'd try to kill a Navy man is me, and I've been with you the entire time."

"But Spider wouldn't do that," Andre answered angrily. "We're off the other ship. She wouldn't hurt anyone like that, Lang. And she's got no reason to hurt the Navy."

"I ain't lookin' for Spider," Judith said, dropping down the ladder. "I'm gonner go check on Digiacomo. Someone just tried to get rid of one of his guards. I know why we wanted the marines out of the way. I don't think someone willin' to garrotte a guard just wants to interrogate a pirate."
