"I don't know," Andre replied. "I suspect she went off to find her father. She was sleeping here before." He rubbed his eyes. "I hope she's not still sleepwalking."

"Don't worry, Romain. Navy boys ain't lettin' any strays on the upper decks at the moment. If she's anywhere, she's still below." The trouble was that 'below' covered a lot of ground. "Someone's bound to have noticed the one really white woman on this ship."

"Unless she's invisible!" Lang said cheerily. "Shall we try her da's first, then her uncle?" She tried. "That makes the most sense. She hasn't anything else to be doing, not on this ship."

Andre nodded. "Aye, all right," he said, running a hand through his hair. "Either way, we'd better find her. What-- do we know what happened to the seaweed?"

Judith shut her eyes a moment. "Still under the ship. I've been hittin' it whenever I happen to think about it. I reckon I need to think about it more often."

"Too bad you can't just blow it up." Lang replied. "We'll check her da's first?" She said, turning to go.

Andre nodded. "Right," he agreed. "But let's not all descend upon her at once. She's been antsy as it is."

"What happened?" Lang asked the assistant. "Was it the seaweed or something else?" She tried, looking the marine over. "His neck looks off."

Andre got back. "That can't be the seaweed," he said. "What is it? What happened?"
