"But the ghost....I don't think the ghost was Kullie. I..." He frowned at Judith. "I was a little worried Spider was the ghost. What with all the sleepwalking. Do you...do you think we have something to worry about?"

"If Kullie's involved, then aye, we have something to worry about," she said. "Even if we have nothin' to do with her, she thinks she has somethin' to do with us."

"The woman who goes invisible was sleepwalking?" Lang asked. "But the ghost threw all those knives... well. And battered the pots and pans." She tilted her head, looking concerned. "But Spider's been fine, hasn't she? Just ill at ease with the ship."

"I don't know how much a sleepwalking person is capable of," Andre said. "Can someone sleep-knife-throw? Maybe." He scratched his head. "So the daughter got the mother's powers? Is that it?"

"Sleepwalkers can do whatever they can do when they're awake," said Judith. "It's why you don't want to try to wake 'em up. They get confused, they think they're still dreamin', sometimes they'll take a whack at you." She frowned. "The first Kuleliti was a witch. The daughter was a good enough copy to be mistaken for her. If the power wasn't confined to the mother, it's possible she taught the daughter."

"Wait." Lang said, confused. "There are witches? I mean, besides you?" She looked back to Andre. "Do you think Spider would do those things in her dreams?" She paused, and smiled. "Maybe she was dreaming she was Kullie." She said, amused.

Andre shrugged. "She might have been dreaming she was back on the ship. Something like that," he suggested. "She's been very agitated since we got here. Do you..." He frowned. "It's not the same kind of witch, is it? What do we do about it?"

"Actually I'm an elemental but I've always hated that term. It sounds so . . . " She waved her hand in disdain. "Frilly. I don't know how well the Navy's gonner go for the idea of the Brotherhood, mate," she told Andre seriously. "But they need to be on alert if she's involved. And I think we need to scare up the Spider."

"Elemental." Lang repeated. "That's the one where you aren't human but you act like it often enough? That's what Matt says." She glanced around. "Tell the Navy you're spying on the Brotherhood for them? Or just say the pirate told you everything. Where's Spider anyway?"
