Post The one with the deal making, 1 Samon, night
Lang paused and looked around the brig, surprised. "Goodness. There are people on land who live in less than this." She glanced over her shoulder. "Iron's not going to bother you, is it? We just need to speak and make sure he's telling the truth, like I said." Then she looked back over at the prisoner. "Good evening. Again."

"Iron don't bother me." But she had become noticeably twitchier in its presence, shifting from foot to foot and keeping her arms folded tight to avoid brushing against a bar or chain by mistake. She looked with deep disapproval on the former pirate.

They had bound Diagiacomo's hands behind his back, leaving him free to pace. The lighting of the brig leeched the colour out of his face, making him look significantly paler and younger, as if he had spent ten years here in the space of a few minutes. He challenged Barbara with his eyes, but ignored Judith. "I thought you'd be busy."

Barbara shot Judith a warning look and looked back to the pirate, surprised. "Busy with what? The Navy isn't smart enough to put me to work, so I got the captain here to talk to you. Or do you mean busy being eaten by seaweed? They think you did that." She leaned against the wall opposite his cell, watching him with interest.

"Busy with whatever business a woman like you has on a Navy ship," he sneered. "I didn't think they'd be so fucking obvious about it, but hell, it's their business, innit?"

Lang looked him over calmly. "They'll be lucky if I don't kill them." She replied. "Did you do the trick with the seaweed? Captain here is going to beat you on the hour until you admit to it, but I got to talk to you first. I'm Barbara." She added.

"Captain?" He looked Judith over, having only just figured out she was the one to whom Barbara must be referring. "Captain? What's she going to do, throw her dollies at me?"

Judith untucked a hand and flung it out at Diagiacomo, and a hard gout of water, which, judging by the spray, was ice-cold, hit him in the chest with enough force to knock him against the back of the cell.

Barbara smiled, and didn't move an inch. "Captain is actually almost four hundred years old. I know that because my man is older than she is." She looked the pirate over again. "If you're finished being sarcastic and snide, I'd like to offer you a deal."

"Your man's a damn liar," Judith muttered. She was clearly itching for Digiacomo to say something else worthy of shooting him down again.
