Post The one at dinnertime, 29 Cantlos, evening
Lang tried to ignore the persistent grumbling in her stomach as pushed her salted fish dinner about on her plate. "Stupid kitchen." She muttered. "Anyone want mine? I'll trade you for a biscuit." She offered.

"I am tryin' to find some biscuit that ain't been et." Spider tapped her biscuit on the tap and brushed away crumbs. Well, mostly crumbs. The crumbs were the ones that didn't wiggle. Finally she pushed her mess tin, biscuit and all, toward Barbara. "You want it, you can have it."

Lang recoiled slightly at the wiggly bits, and shoved the mess tin back at Spider. "No, good neighbor. I just lost my appetite." She replied, and went back to pushing her fish about. She leaned forward. "Sooner we figure out the whole haunted kitchen, the better." Barbara said conspiratorily.

"Best of luck there," Spider said cheerfully. In spite of her resolve, hunger overcame repugnance and she peeled a strip of fish off its backbone and chewed it. "I am not settin' foot in that kitchen. I'll starve first."

Lang raised her brow. "Well, at least you won't starve for a great while, with the way you filled out." She replied. "But why? Are you that scared of it? It just seems like the ghost of some brat." She frowned, thinking of Ashon. "It acts like a brat, to say the least."

"Hey, shut up, I had a kid." She pushed away the fish again, face going red. "I'm not here to handle Judith's feckin' ghost problem. You'd think after the last ship she'd check for these kinds of things. As long as it stays in the kitchen, it can have the kitchen, for all I care."

Lang looked at her curiously. "You look like a woman." She replied, raising her brows again. "That's all. Not a scrawny boy. Do you know anything about ghosts though? She had one on her last ship?" Lang said, confused. "Really?"

"Aye, but we found out what that one was," she said. "It was Andre's old ship. The ghost was his wife. She threw me off a ladder once." Spider drew a strand of pale hair through her teeth, looking quite as if this were all fond-memory-of-our-courtship material.

Lang tilted her head. "Oh, she did? That's.. interesting." Barbara replied, giving the other woman a look. "I thought it was jealous of Rosemary, to start, because it never did anything to Ashon. But then it slimed Elaine and drew things in the meal while we were inside, and it hurt Rosemary in front of Ashon." She sighed. "I wish we knew how to get rid of ghosts. There's got to be a way."

"Andre started his wife's ghost going on purpose. He got rid of one of her old things from the ship and she didn't like it. So maybe . . . " Spider tapered off, looking about. "Except that Judith's changed whole decks on this ship, so it could be anything."
